Literacy Month
We are excited to share that Midnapore School is moving forward with Literacy month. Students and staff will embrace the joy of reading through unique literacy opportunities. Please celebrate with us by reading daily with your child.
Are Your Children Attending Midnapore School Next Year?
As we are beginning to plan for the next school year, we would like to know if you are planning to remain at
Midnapore School. Accurate enrolment data helps us to plan effectively. We want to remind parents that our current Grade 6 students will automatically be enrolled for Grade 7 at their designated school for August 2024. Our Students in Grade 4 for the Mandarin Program will also automatically be enrolled in our partner Panabaker school program. You do not need to do anything to register.
Please inform us as soon as possible if your child(ren) will NOT be attending Midnapore School in August 2024 by emailing Mrs. Stewart at chstewart@cbe.ab.ca
Please confirm the following information in your email:
- Student Name (s)
- Current Classroom (s)
- New School
If you are transferring to a different CBE school, please complete the attached Student Transfer form and
email Mrs. Stewart ASAP. If you are leaving the CBE school division, you do not need to complete the Student Transfer form.
If your child(ren) is/are remaining at Midnapore School next year, you do not need to email Mrs. Stewart, thank you.

Thank you to our kindergarten families who have already registered for the 2024-2025 school year. Early registration allows us to thoughtfully plan forward for staffing. If you have registered for kindergarten, please check your School
Engage account to see if additional information is required for registration purposes. We will process registrations when we have received all required information and documents.
Mandarin Update
这周四和周五是春季家长会。这次家长会的特点是学生为主，老师为辅。 这次家长会的目的之一是培养学生们对自己学习的责任心和他们的交流能力。在展示自己的学习成就过程中，希望孩子们能建立更多的自信，感受到为自己的努力而付出的自豪。家长们耐心聆听，与孩子们分享阅读和游戏，共同建立下一步的学习目标。 在这些活动过程中家长们教孩子们如何互相聆听，和交流他们的想法。希望孩子们朝着自己的目标继续努力，有更大的进步和收获！

Students in Ms. Gallant and Ms. Qi’s Grade 1 and Grade 2 classes have been busy “rediscovering” themselves by engaging in daily writing projects. Grade 2 students created an “All About Me” pamphlet and decorated a flag with some of their favorite things. The Grade 1's read a story called “The Shape of Me” and were reminded of how special each and every one of them are! The students then introduced themselves using a number of different sentence starters. The Mandarin Program Grade 1 and Grade 2 students also made some really unique self-portraits! The Grade 1's used their artistic skills of drawing shapes and understanding of symmetry to make a half self-portrait. The Grade 2's had to follow a number of tricky steps to make their abstract mixed-media self-portraits. We will continue to use our creative skills for future writing and artistic projects!
Literacy Fact of the Week
Six additional minutes of reading per day can significantly improve kids’ reading performance. Home reading does not have to be a huge chore! Set a timer and see how quickly your child can build their stamina.
Pro tip: build a fort out of blankets, get cozy and read using a flashlight!
