Dear Midnapore Families,

National Indigenous People’s Day

I am very excited to share that our Midnapore School Land based learning activity was a huge success.  Our Grade 5’s demonstrated incredible leadership today by facilitating all our groups where they supported students around our medicine wheel conversations with transitions.  All students in our school took part in this land-based learning activity and personalized their responses to allow for thoughtful reflections for their next transition.  Great job Midnapore school and thank you to our Grade 5’s.

Staffing changes

As the school year ends, it is a time for reflection, gratitude and the next chapter. Although we are very excited for them, we are going to be sad to say farewell to Jen Reyes, Rhea Qi, Christine Petersen, Brittany Plunz, Maya Ikuta, Amanda Evans, Ms. Somi and Ms. Stewart.  We are grateful for working with each of these incredible educators.  We will follow up next week with an introduction to our new staff members who are joining our learning community.

Mandarin Program Update

The Grade 1 and Grade 2 students in Ms. Gallant and Ms. Qi's classes have been having lots of outdoor gym when the weather is beautiful! We are learning how to work as a team and focusing on kicking and running skills through kickball games. This week, students also learned different Indigenous games. One was called "Animal Muk" and the other was "Shoe Shoe". Both games invited students to sit in a circle and used common items like a shoe or only their body to play. Students are looking forward to the last week of school, which will be filled with tons of excitement and fun!
