Chess Club
We’re excited to announce that Chess Club is starting up at Midnapore School! This is a great opportunity for students in Grades 3 to 6 to learn the game of chess, develop problem-solving skills, and have fun with friends in a positive, inclusive environment.
Whether your child is new to chess or already a seasoned player, they are welcome to join! We’ll be learning the rules, practicing strategies, and even playing some friendly matches.

🗓️ Day of the Week: Thursdays at lunch
📍 Location: The stage
🧠 Who can join? All interested students in Grades 3–6.
New System Class at Midnapore School
I am excited to announce that Midnapore school will be opening a new System class to support Adapted learning needs. In September of 2025 we will be welcoming an ALP classroom to Midnapore school where students who meet the classrooms criteria will be placed in this classroom. ALP programming focuses on building foundational skills in functional academics, communication, social interaction, leisure skills, vocational skills and skills for self-regulation. The curriculum is modified to support the personalization of learning according to the unique strengths and needs of each student.
Grade 5 EcoSchools Canada
I’m excited to share that Midnapore School is now officially registered with EcoSchools Canada!
Eco Schools Canada is the largest bilingual environmental certification program for K-12 schools in the country. The program helps schools take action on environmental learning, sustainability, and climate leadership through a variety of student-led challenges. Schools earn points for completing meaningful eco-actions that can lead to certification at different levels (bronze, silver, gold, etc.).
Our school will be kicking off our first Eco Challenge this month: learning how to properly sort waste and reduce contamination in our recycling and garbage bins. As part of this, Grade 5 Leadership will be conducting a waste audit, and we’ll be creating signs for our waste bins to help guide students and staff. Please let me know if you would like to be directly involved in any capacity.
Grade 5’s will be introducing this initiative to the whole school during our upcoming Earth Day assembly. Stay tuned for more updates—we’re just getting started!
