Dear Midnapore Families, we would like to thank our Grade 1, teachers, students and families who supported our Wisdom assembly today.  We heard powerful messages from staff and students around how we can gain new forms of wisdom over the month of April.  Thank you to all for your hard work today.

Movie Night

We are excited to share that on May 1 we will be hosting a school wide Movie night here at Midnapore
School.  This event will support our Grade 6 students who are attending camp at the end of May.  The event will start at 5:30pm with doors opening at 5pm.  We are requesting a $2 admission fee that will go directly to our Grade 6 camp fundraising.  In addition, students will have the opportunity to purchase Kernels popcorn, which can be had during our movie.  To purchase a bag of popcorn, please visit our healthy hunger website and make your order.

Yoga Residency

We are so fortunate to have Ms. Amber coming to teach our students yoga and ways calm our bodies and minds once a week until May 17. This yoga is child-friendly and purely exercise-based. Students are having a great time practicing their balance, flexibility, and stamina with a yoga expert! Students are not required to but if they would like to they may bring their own yoga mat.

Literacy Month at Midnapore School

It was a great second week of our Literacy Month! Congratulations to the grade 1s, grade 3s, and grade 4s for winning our rhyming and word scramble contests! We were really impressed with some clever thinking when students were asked to rhyme words with vest, they included homophones like guest and guessed! Don’t forget to read at home this weekend to keep earning points towards a class pizza party!

This week, we have more fun activities planned:

April 15 – Read a book with a buddy! Students are encouraged to bring a favourite book to share with a buddy in an older or younger grade classroom.

April 16 – Bookmark creation contest – Students will design a bookmark in class and practice their art skills and creativity. The winner will get their bookmark creation copied, laminated and distributed to all the students in their classrooms.

April 17– Bring a blanket to school to make a reading fort with! Any blanket, towel, or cheap tablecloth will do!

April 18 – Cozy Cafe reading – Students will be given hot cocoa to sip on while they read cafe style.
