Please join us if you’re able! We will follow this meeting up with our regular hybrid model School council meeting.

Volunteer Appreciation

May 24 is our Annual Volunteer Tea! It will take place from 10:30-11:30 AM. We want to share how much we appreciate all of our community members who go out of their way to support our students and their learning here at Midnapore School. Volunteers should be receiving invitations home this week. Please RSVP by Friday, May 17 by emailing mdconrod@cbe.ab.ca

Movie Night

We are excited to share that on May 1 we will be hosting a school wide Movie night here at Midnapore
School. We will be sharing the movie “Babe.” This event will support our Grade 6 students who are attending camp at the end of May.  The event will start at 5:30pm with doors opening at 5pm.  We are requesting a $2 admission fee that will go directly to our Grade 6 camp fundraising.  In addition, students will have the opportunity to purchase Kernels popcorn, which can be had during our movie.  To purchase a bag of popcorn, please visit our healthy hunger website and make your order. Orders must be placed by this weekend.

Mandarin Program Update

Over the past two weeks, our kindergarten students in the Mandarin program have been exploring the
concept of 'belonging'. We've discussed the meanings of 'community' and 'belonging', as well as the various groups to which we may belong. For example, students shared ideas such as 'I belong in my family', 'I belong at Midnapore School', 'I belong in my swimming/dancing/soccer group', and 'I belong at my daycare/preschool.'

Additionally, we've delved into discussions about healthy eating. Students learned how foods can be categorized into groups such as fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy, grains, and sweets. They had fun in
"eating the Rainbow" activity, which encourages them to enjoy a colorful variety of fruits and vegetables. This helps them to understand the importance of a balanced diet for maintaining strength and good health.

In our Mandarin lessons, students are currently focusing on directions and locations. They have been
practicing expressing directions and locations in full sentences “…… 在上面/下面/左边/右边/前面/后面” with the 'assistance' of Pebble, Ms. Yang's cat. :) Students enjoyed working with Pebble.
