Dear Families
Happy Lunar New Year
Harold Panabaker School and Midnapore School are set to ring in the Lunar New Year with a spectacular joint performance on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 6:30pm at Harold Panabaker School. This exciting event will showcase the talents of students from kindergarten through to grade 9, who are enrolled in the Mandarin Bilingual Program. This event offers a unique opportunity for students to demonstrate their bilingual language skills and cultural understanding developed throughout the school year through a dynamic blend of festive songs, cultural dance, and theatrical performances that will engage the audience and convey popular Lunar New Year legends and stories.
Our Mandarin Program will be travelling to Harold Panabaker school for a dress rehearsal on Tuesday, January 21. This field trip will be to prepare for our big upcoming event on Thursday evening.

Mandarin Program Update
This week in Grade 1, we explored the rich traditions and celebrations of Lunar New Year across different countries. Students learned about unique customs and how this important holiday is celebrated around the world. We also touched on the origin of Chinese New Year and its cultural significance. Next week, we will dive deeper into the story behind the celebration and complete a special craft to bring our learning to life.
Additionally, all the Mandarin classes are abuzz with excitement as we are preparing for our New Year Concert next week! Students have been working hard to practice their performances, and we can’t wait to share this special event with you.
We look forward to celebrating the Lunar New Year together!
