Dear Midnapore Families,
It was a fun week at Midnapore School. Students had the chance to take part in our Fire Safety Trailer workshop where every student could learn basic home fire safety. Our special guests from the Calgary Fire Department were able to do a demonstration in both, English and Mandarin. We would like to extend a special thank you to our local heroes who dropped by for a short visit. Learn more about fire safety!
Upcoming Assembly
We are excited for our next Assembly, and last teaching, which will be facilitated by our Kindergarten students. This celebration of learning will take place on Wednesday, June 5, at 9 AM. We are hopeful you can join us.
Mandarin Program Update
This week was filled with excitement for our Mandarin kindergarten students. On Tuesday, the Tues/Thurs class went to the Calgary Zoo. They marveled at colorful butterflies, playful monkeys, majestic big cats and exotic reptiles. On Wednesday, the Fire Engine 43 rolled onto the scene and brought with it essential lessons in fire safety for Midnapore School students. The Mon/Wed class took the great opportunity to explore the fire engine and learned how to handle emergencies in two languages. From wild animals to fire safety, these off-field activities provide our students with the opportunities to integrate the knowledge and skills they have learned with the world around them.
中英双语项目幼儿园的小朋友们度过了开心的一周。星期二，二四班的小朋友参观了卡尔加里动物园。他们惊叹于五彩缤纷的蝴蝶、顽皮的猴子、英姿飒爽的“大猫”和充满异国情调的爬行动物。星期三，43号消防局的消防员们将消防车开进了美纳博小学，为学生们带来了关于消防安全的重要课程。一三班的学生们利用这次难得的机会，了解了消防车的构造，并学会了如何用两种语言应对紧急情况。从观察野生动物到了解消防安全，这些丰富的课外活动让我们的学生有机会将学到的知识与周围的环境相结合，加深对知识的理解。
Are your children attending Midnapore School next year?
As we are beginning to plan for the next school year, we would like to know if you are planning to remain at Midnapore School. Accurate enrolment data helps us to plan effectively.
We want to remind parents that our current grade 6 students will automatically be enrolled for grade 7 at their designated school for August 2024. Our Students in Grade 4 for the Mandarin Program will also automatically be enrolled in our partner Panabaker school program. You do not need to do anything to register.
Please inform us as soon as possible if your child(ren) will NOT be attending Midnapore School in August 2024 by emailing Mrs. Stewart at chstewart@cbe.ab.ca
Please confirm the following information in your email:
- Student Name(s)
- Current Classroom(s)
- New School
If you are transferring to a different CBE school, please complete the attached Student Transfer form and email Mrs. Stewart ASAP. If you are leaving the CBE school division, you do not need to complete the Student Transfer form.
If your child(ren) is/are remaining at Midnapore School next year, you do not need to email Mrs. Stewart, Thank you.
Kindergarten Registrations – Please check you School Engage Account
Thank you to our kindergarten families who have already registered for the 2024-25 school year. Early registration allows us to thoughtfully plan forward for staffing. If you have registered for kindergarten, please check your School Engage account to see if additional information is required for registration purposes. We will process registrations when we have received all required information and documents.
