Dear Midnapore Families,
Please view the important information below about upcoming events. Please note our special spirit day on Monday, March 18 as we celebrate St. Patrick's day with Green day.
March 21/22 School Conferences
This conference is an opportunity for parents/guardians, students and teachers to celebrate learning and plan next steps. Our March conferences will be student led and will allow parents/guardians to see the progression of their child’s work in core curriculum areas.
Parents can book appointments with teachers via their MyCBE accounts. At least one parent/legal guardian in every family must have an active account.
Please visit MyCBE to create your account if you have not already done so.
Access to book appointments with Teachers will be available from March 11, 2024, until March 23.
Conferences will be held in the classrooms, please arrive on time for your 30-minute student-led conference. If you need to make an alternate arrangement with your child's teacher, please email them directly. We look forward to celebrating Midnapore student's success.
Please note that our Students in Grades 5 and 6 will not need to book. We will do an open house format for these families as you will likely want to visit the 3 of your child’s teachers. The only time our teachers in Grades 5 and 6 won’t be available is between 5:00pm-5:30pm, Thursday evening. Please enjoy our book fair at this time.
Learning Commons News - Book Fair
We are excited to be hosting The Scholastics Book Fair during Parent Teacher Interviews, Thursday, March 21 – 3:30pm-7:30pm and Friday, March 22 8:00am to 12:00pm. Students will have an opportunity during the day to browse the book fair with their classes. Each book purchased goes towards resources for out for our school library and classrooms.
Book Fair Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are still needed in various positions to help with the book fair, especially for set up on Tuesday and Sales on Thursday (which is our busiest times). If you are able to assist with this please sign up!

Are your children attending Midnapore School next year?
As we are beginning to plan for the next school year, we would like to know if you are planning to remain at Midnapore School. Accurate enrolment data helps us to plan effectively.
We want to remind parents that our current Grade 6 students will automatically be enrolled for Grade 7 at their designated school for August 2024. Our Students in Grade 4 for the Mandarin Program will also automatically be enrolled in our partner Panabaker school program. You do not need to do anything to register.
Please inform us as soon as possible if your child(ren) will NOT be attending Midnapore School in August 2024 by emailing Mrs. Stewart at chstewart@cbe.ab.ca
Please confirm the following information in your email

Kindergarten Registrations – Please check you School Engage Account
Thank you to our kindergarten families who have already registered for the 2024-2025 school year. Early registration allows us to thoughtfully plan forward for staffing. If you have registered for kindergarten, please check your School Engage account to see if additional information is required for registration purposes. We will process registrations when we have received all required information and documents.
Mandarin Update
This week, Mandarin Grade 3 students had an in-school field trip featuring Cubelets, robotic vehicles. During the field trip, students discovered the basic functions of the different Cubelet blocks, such as thinking, sensing, and acting. Students engaged in how to use brightness sensors, distance sensors, and wheel blocks to command the robot's functioning. In their groups, students further explored the Cubelets by completing challenges and experiments.
At the end, they built their own robots designed for specific purposes, such as motorcycles, fire trucks, and a vacuum machine capable of operating at night, and then presented them to the class. The Cubelets field trip not only provided students with a deeper understanding of robotics but also cultivated their teamwork, creativity, and presentation skills. We eagerly anticipate more exciting learning adventures ahead.
We extend our sincere thanks to the Midnapore Parent Council for sponsoring this activity, and to the parent volunteers for their invaluable support in making this enriching experience possible. Your dedication is greatly appreciated.
