Dear Midnapore Families,

Thank you to all the families who were able to attend today’s learning assembly. Students from Grades 3 and 4 demonstrated their knowledge of our next sacred teaching of Love. What an amazing performance and powerful messages from our Grade 3 students.

On Wednesday, the Grade 3 and 4 students went on a field trip to the Saddledome! We participated in the Telus Be Brave/ Pink Shirt Day celebration and learned about bullying prevention. It was such a fun day of learning, as well as an exciting opportunity to see the Calgary Hitmen play!

The Grade 3 students were able to bring the learning back to Midnapore School and share in the Friday’s Assembly. Connecting to the theme of Eagle and Love, the students shared that at Midnapore School love is expressed through kind words and actions when we interact with each other. In the play performed by Mrs. Litchfield’s Grade 3&4 students, the baby eagle and baby chick were able to overcome their differences and showed kindness to each other. Eventually they became good friends!

For the school wide initiative, the Grade 3 students invited everyone to make a card with kind messages to the seniors in our community. We will collect the cards and deliver them to the senior homes close to Midnapore. We would like to tell the seniors that we are thinking of them, and they are important!

本周,三四年级的学生们去参加了Telus Be Brave/ Pink Shirt Day 反霸凌学习活动。

Literacy Fact of the Week

Children’s academic successes at ages 9 and 10 can be attributed to the amount of talk they hear from birth through age 3. Young children who are exposed to certain early language and literacy experiences also prove to be good readers later on in life. Ask your children to narrate what they see as you drive or walk to school! Play a game of “I spy” and look for words that start with specific letter sounds.
