Dear Families,
what a great week our students at Midnapore school had. On Tuesday, we welcomed Elder Jackie Bromley into our building for her first visit to Midnapore School. Jackie spent time with each class and had an opportunity to share her personal experiences, hear from students and supported our building with a summary of the 7 Sacred teachings. Jackie and our teachers enjoyed some quality time together throughout the day, and at lunch as we were treated by our school council. Teacher appreciation week wrapped up today and we thank the council for their heartfelt gesture.
New Acting Assistant Principal
We are thrilled to announce that Leah Clare will be our new Acting Assistant Principal starting in August. Mike Mcmahon has done an exceptional job filling in for Meagan’s absence. We are thrilled to welcome Leah into our community! Please view Leah’s introduction blurb below.
Hello,
My name is Leah Clare, and I am very excited to join Midnapore School as the acting Assistant Principal. I’ve been with the Calgary Board of Education for 23 years and have worked in elementary schools as a teacher, learning leader, and resource teacher. I am passionate about building strong relationships with students, families, and staff, and I look forward to learning with and supporting the school community. My approach is guided by diverse experiences and a continuous drive to learn and grow. I believe that fostering meaningful relationships and providing engaging learning opportunities helps students discover their passions and reach their fullest potential. My background in literacy, social-emotional learning, and wellness will continue to shape my approach as I work alongside staff and students. I look forward to getting to know each of you and contributing to the success of Midnapore School.
Asian Heritage Month – Week 2: Multicultural Wall – Celebrating Our Languages
This week, we are excited to begin creating our Multicultural Wall! 🌍
Students will learn how to say "hello" in five different languages spoken by members of our school community. 📸 We’ll also be taking photos of students who speak a language other than English at home and celebrating them by showcasing their pictures on our bulletin. Each photo will include the language they speak and how to say “hello” in that language. We can’t wait to celebrate the rich linguistic diversity in our school!
🎉 A Huge Thank You to Our 50/50 Raffle Participants! 🎉
We are thrilled to announce that the total jackpot reached an impressive $2,950! The winner has been notified, and we extend our heartfelt congratulations!
In a wonderful gesture, the winner has decided to donate the funds to the council. Your generous contributions are making a significant impact. The funds raised will be directed towards the purchase of a state-of-the-art media system for our school, with a goal of $35,000. This new system will enhance the learning experience for all our students.
Stay tuned for more exciting events and opportunities to support our school community. Together, we are making a difference!
