Dear Midnapore Families,

Welcome to Kindergarten Open House

Dear Kindergarten Families,

Welcome to Midnapore School! We are very excited for you/your child to be coming to Kindergarten at Midnapore School for the 2024-25 school year.  For some of you, this may the first time you are sending a child off to school; it is a time filled with excitement and maybe a little anxiety as well. Rest assured; your child is in good hands at Midnapore.

We invite you and your child for an in-person Kindergarten Open House on Friday, May 17 from 9-10 AM.  Doors open at 8:45 for those who like to arrive early.  Please come directly to the gym and we will support you on next steps.

During the Open House, we will:

  • take you on a tour of Midnapore School, and
  •  visit the Kindergarten classroom to try some learning activities.

There will also be a short presentation from our Kindergarten/Admin team, as well as from our School Council.

Fire Safety Trailer

On May 29, all students will have the opportunity to participate in our Calgary Fire Department Fire Safety Trailer activity.  We are excited to invite Fire Station Crew 43 to Midnapore School for this unique learning opportunity.  If you would like to learn more about the fire safety activities students will be participating in, please click the link below.

Volunteer Appreciation

May 24 is our Annual Volunteer Tea! It will take place from 10:30-11:30 AM. We want to share how much we appreciate all of our community members who go out of their way to support our students and their learning here at Midnapore School. Volunteers should be receiving invitations home this week. Please RSVP by Friday, May 17 by emailing mdconrod@cbe.ab.ca

Honesty Virtue this Month

Our school will be supporting the Calgary Humane Society for the month of May.

We are collecting:

  • Clean, small blankets
  • Clean flat bed sheets
  • New, unopened bags of animal food and treats
  • Cash donations
  • No animal toys as the Humane Society has strict rules on what types of toys they can offer their animals

Mandarin Program Update

This week the Grade 3 students have been exploring figurative language, focusing on similes and idioms. To celebrate Mother’s Day, students have created poems using figurative language. Please enjoy this poem written by N. B. from Grade 3:

“Today is a special day! Mother’s Day is filled with love and cheer!

My mom is as bright as a nightlight.

She is as sweet as a cake with cherries on top.

She is as hard working as a bee.

Today is a special day! Mother’s day is filled with love and cheer!”

Happy Mother’s Day to all the families!
