Dear Midnapore Families,
Thank you to those who attended our Welcome to Kindergarten event this week. We had a large turnout and our new students fit in right away. A special thank you to our school council representatives who attended this morning and for Sharlene’s efforts in presenting the importance of joining our school council. Overall, it was a great turnout and a great week here at Midnapore School.
We are excited for our Grade 6’s who will be heading off to Camp Chief Hector next week. We know you will do great and wish you well. A special thank you to our Grade 6 teachers who have worked extremely hard to make this a reality for our students. Parents, please remember to check your Camp information to ensure you have all the items you will need.
Fire Safety Trailer
On May 29, all students will have the opportunity to participate in our Calgary Fire Department Fire Safety Trailer activity. We are excited to invite Fire Station Crew 43 to Midnapore School for this unique learning opportunity. Volunteer Appreciation
May 24 is our Annual Volunteer Tea! It will take place from 10:30-11:30 AM. We want to share how much we appreciate all of our community members who go out of their way to support our students and their learning here at Midnapore School. Volunteers should be receiving invitations home this week. Please RSVP by Friday, May 17 by emailing mdconrod@cbe.ab.ca
Honesty Virtue this Month
Our school will be supporting the Calgary Humane Society for the month of May. We are collecting:
- Clean, small blankets
- Clean bed sheets
- New, unopened bags of animal food and treats
- Cash donations
- No animal toys as the Humane Society has strict rules on what types of toys they can offer their animals
Mandarin Program Update
In the month of April, Midnapore School collected 63943 pop tabs! These tabs will go towards a wheelchair for someone in need. Great job,
everyone. The Grade 2 students led the Honesty Assembly and showed Midnapore students different ways to be honest in school. For example, during a game of dodgeball or gaga ball, or when using the washroom. Over the next few weeks, Grade 2 students will be engaging in various activities around Science and Social Studies. We will be going on community walks to explore Spring changes and discover our community and the land we are on. Grade 2s will also be learning the butterfly life cycle, through the observation and exploration of watching live caterpillars over the next 2 weeks! This week is also the last week of yoga. We want to thank School Council for this great opportunity to learn from Ms. Amber! We now feel more in control of our body and breathing.
四月，美纳博学校组织了回收易拉罐的拉环环保活动。一共回收了 63943个拉环！成果斐然！此次回收活动是给需要轮椅的人集资。本周是由二年级主持主题为诚实的全校大会。同学们用各种形式来反映诚实在学校里的表现。例如，在玩游戏时，或在使用卫生间时，诚实的品质都很重要。在五月下旬， 二年级的同学们将参与和体验很多社会科学和自然科学的活动，有观察蝴蝶的转化和蜕变，还有去附近社区踏青，让孩子们进一步感受和发现春季里大自然的变化。在社区里的踏青活动也培养了孩子们对他们生活的这片土地的情感。

Are your children attending Midnapore School next year?
As we are beginning to plan for the next school year, we would like to know if you are planning to remain at Midnapore School. Accurate
enrolment data helps us to plan effectively.
We want to remind parents that our current grade 6 students will automatically be enrolled for grade 7 at their designated school for August
2024. Our Students in Grade 4 for the Mandarin Program will also automatically be enrolled in our partner Panabaker school program. You do not need to do anything to register.
Please inform us as soon as possible if your child(ren) will NOT be attending Midnapore School in August 2024 by emailing Mrs. Stewart at chstewart@cbe.ab.ca
Please confirm the following information in your email:
- Student Name(s)
- Current Classroom(s)
- New School
If you are transferring to a different CBE school, please complete the attached Student Transfer form and email Mrs. Stewart ASAP. If you are leaving the CBE school division, you do not need to complete the Student Transfer form.
If your child(ren) is/are remaining at Midnapore School next year, you do not need to email Mrs. Stewart, Thank you.

Thank you to our kindergarten families who have already registered for the 2024-25 school year. Early registration allows us to thoughtfully plan forward for staffing. If you have registered for kindergarten, please check your School Engage account to see if additional information is required for registration purposes. We will process registrations when we have received all required information and documents.
