Dear Families, thank you to those who were able to attend our Welcome to Kindergarten open house today. Our Kindergarten teachers, Admin and School council presented an informative session around next steps for this wonderful transition. If you missed the session, the slide deck can be found on our school website.
SOGO comes to Midnapore School
We are excited to welcome our SOGO residency to Midnapore School. SOGO is a Calgary-based not-for-profit program which is run by the Foothills Orienteering Club. They offer high quality, innovative Adventure Running programs for youth aged 2-17. Their program focusses on building confidence in the outdoors, navigating through natural terrain, orienteering, map-reading, running, exploration and fun. A special thank you to our Parent council who has supported this residency.
Week one will be for Division 1 students and will be held on the Midnapore School campus. Our week two will be in Fish Creek Park. We will be sending a sign-up genius for those who are able to volunteer. If you are able to support, feel free to email your child’s teacher.
Transportation
New transportation zones & students in the Mandarin Program
Transportation Registration is Now Open
Families are now able to register for school bus service for the 2025-26 school year using their MyCBE account.
Families must register by Sunday, June 22, 2025 for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year.
CBE Transportation will continue to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing bus stop with available space. Processing times for registrations submitted after the June 22 deadline will be delayed. Confirmed routes are posted in late August. For those who register after the June 22 deadline, it may take until mid-October before those students are able to ride the bus.
Transportation can be cancelled with no financial impact by submitting the cancellation form by Sept. 30, 2025.
2025-26 Transportation Service Levels & Proposed Fees
The proposed fees for transportation service for the 2025-26 school year are as follows:
· $360/year for those students designated to yellow school bus transportation
· $180/year for one-way kindergarten transportation
· No fee for students attending specialized classes who are designated to specialized transportation
Radon testing at Midnapore School
A radon gas study was conducted in 30 CBE schools, this year,
Detectors were placed throughout the school by a “Certified Radon Professional” and left for about three months between October and March of this school year. The devices were then sent for analysis.
The CBE Indoor Environmental Quality team received the reports. The results confirm that the levels in your school are well within the Health Canada guideline for radon (below 200 Bq/m3) and no further action is required at this time.
If you would like to learn more about radon, please refer to the ‘Radon Brochure’ in Health Canada’s website : https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/health-risks-safety/radiation/radon.html
If you are interested in finding out more about radon, the risks of radon exposure, and steps that you can take in your home, please see “Radon: What You Need to Know” produced by the government of Canada and available here:
Have you Moved?
