Dear Midnapore Families
It was a special day at Midnapore School. We spent our morning thanking many parents who have been a huge support at our school by volunteering and spending countless hours supporting students and learning. For parents unable to attend today’s volunteer tea, we want to ensure we acknowledge you and your hard work. It is a great feeling to be a part of such a strong learning community. Midnapore is a hard-working community, which prides itself on supporting each other. We appreciate you and wouldn’t be able to have all the success we had this year without you. THANK YOU!
Grade 6 Camp Trip
A special thank you to those parents and teachers who supported an amazing camp experience. We are very fortunate to have such dedicated teachers and parents who go above and beyond to create memories and positive experiences for our students. A special thank you to Ms. Miller, Gordon-Cooper, Carriere and Bell for their hard work and planning for this event. Midnapore School is grateful for all that you do.
Sports Day
We are excited to share that our Sports/Activity Day will be on Friday, June 14. If we are interrupted by the rain we will move this fun event to Friday, June 21. We will be sharing a sign-up genius soon where parent volunteers will be able to sign up if you’re looking.
Fire Safety Trailer
On May 29, all students will have the opportunity to participate in our Calgary Fire Department Fire Safety Trailer activity. We are excited to invite Fire Station Crew 43 to Midnapore School for this unique learning opportunity. If you would like to learn more about the fire safety activities students will be participating in, please click the link below.

Honesty Virtue this Month
Our school will be supporting the Calgary Humane Society for the month of May. We are collecting:
- Clean, small blankets
- Clean flat bed sheets
- New, unopened bags of animal food and treats
- Cash donations
- No animal toys as the Humane Society has strict rules on what types of toys they can offer their animals
Mandarin Program Update
This month in Ms. Fan's Grade 1 class, we celebrated Asian Heritage Month with fun activities and great books. Our students made beautiful art inspired by famous Asian artists, like the colorful dot paintings by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. We showed these artworks at our volunteer tea event to thank our wonderful parent volunteers.
We also enjoyed some fantastic Asian stories. "The Empty Pot" taught us about the importance of being honest, which connects to one of the seven sacred teachings we are learning this month. We also read "The Name Jar," a book about being proud of our names and where we come from!
