Dear Midnapore Families,
It was a lovely week with many exciting activities here at Midnapore School. Several of our classes continued with their land-based learning while in Fish Creek, and we had our first round of school pictures. Your child may participate in picture retakes on November 18 if you missed out on this round or if you’re unhappy with your first round.
Assembly
We are excited to welcome students and families to our first sacred teaching assembly on October 24 at 10:15am. Our Grade 2 classes will be opening our lessons and community initiatives around the topic of “Respect.”

Mandarin Team Update
This week, our Grade 1 students went on an exciting community walk to Fish Creek Park! During this adventure, they engaged in discussions about the concept of a "sit spot," connecting their experiences to indigenous education. Students also practiced using their five senses to observe the natural world around them, enhancing their understanding of scientific investigation. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to connect with nature and learn through exploration!
Fees
Please be aware that Fees (School Supply Fees etc) will be posted around the middle of this month.
Grade 2 Sharing Assembly- Please note that we are excited to welcome students and families to our first Sacred teaching assembly which will be facilitated by our Grade 2s, on October 24.
Field Trip Fees
Please note that all field trip fees are due on or preferably before the field trip date.
Fee Waiver
If you are thinking of applying for a waiver that would waive your lunchroom/transportation/school supply fees, please apply now rather than wait. Fee collection normally starts in February for the school year. If you have a waiver then this will avoid any collection on your account. If you need assistance with this, please give us a call at the office. You can apply for this waiver on your MyCBE account under the heading of Fees
Lunch Supervision
Please register your child for lunch supervision. Every child must be registered for security and safety reasons. Please go to your MyCBE account and register there. Lunch sign up includes supervision during the lunch hour for your child while they are eating inside and playing outside. The supervisors have first aid training and also clean the tables, chairs and floors to ensure good hygiene for your child’s wellbeing.
Demographic Verification Form
Is on your MyCBE account and we ask that you please fill this out so that we can keep your child’s information up to date at all times. Thank you.
Volunteering
Please go to your MyCBE account and get your police clearance done. Once you are cleared this is good for five years. This is in addition to the Annual Volunteer Form that is required by the CBE every year. Your Police clearance will take on average 2 to 6 weeks to complete.
Halloween Dance
We are excited to share that we will once again be hosting a school Halloween celebration at Midnapore School. This event will be supported by our Grade 6 students and will act as a fundraiser for their end of year camp trip. There are no expectations for cost but if parents would like to donate $2 to our Grade 6 students it will help them reach their goal. We will also be hosting a fun snack of Popcorn on this day so no need to send your child with any treats. Please log in to your Healthy Hunger account to purchase your child a fun snack.
We encourage students to wear a costume if they are comfortable but discourage families from picking a costume where a mask is required. Our activity in the afternoon requires movement and students should not have limited visibility. We also ask that students bring their costumes in a bag. We will give all the students time in the afternoon to dress up.
