Dear Midnapore Families,
It was a great second week and students are well into routines. It was great to see so many classes engaging in learning and making classroom connections. Please read all of the important information below as we have a very busy September ahead of us. We promise that our weekly messages will start to shrink as the school year progresses.
Open House
We are excited to welcome all families to our first meeting with the teacher. On September 25th, we welcome all families to Midnapore school from the hours of 4-6pm. During our open house you will receive a copy of teacher's curriculum plans, meet your child’s teacher, have a tour of the school, and have a chance to purchase supper with our food trucks. We have invited YYC food trucks to the back compound where families can enjoy a lovely evening together.

Our school needs your help! We have our casino fundraiser coming up and it’s only possible with your support.
There will be many different shifts available throughout the day and overnight. We are only able to collect funds if these positions are fulfilled. It can be anyone (no police clearance required) yourself, grandparents, relatives and friends.
These funds pay for valuable extras for our students, like field trip transportation, artist residences, musical instruments, and our soon-to-be brand-new sound system that we desperately need.

Healthy Hunger
We’re excited to kick off our Healthy Hunger fundraising, with the first event scheduled for September 24! These fundraisers directly support our school and staff, so we encourage you to log in to your Healthy Hunger account and check out the upcoming events. Website is: https://healthyhunger.ca/
Please note: orders must be placed at least 5 days in advance, so be sure to submit yours by September 19 to participate.
If you're available to help deliver lunches on fundraiser days, we’d love your support! A volunteer sign-up will be sent out shortly—stay tuned.

Mandarin Team Update

我们顺利度过了第二周，孩子们已经逐渐适应了日常的学习和生活节奏。看到各个班级积极投入学习、建立良好的关系，我们感到非常欣慰。九月将会有许多重要活动，请您务必关注每周的信息。
我们诚挚邀请各位家长参加 9 月 25 日下午 4 点至 6 点的开放日活动。届时，您将有机会与老师见面、参观校园、了解课程计划，并在校内与家人一同享用 YYC 餐车准备的晚餐，共度一个温馨的夜晚。
Demographic Verification Form
This is s friendly reminder to complete your 2025-2026 Online Annual Forms. Please sign in to your MyCBE/PowerSchool account, select Online Forms, select Student and complete all forms, complete or review and update the form, click on Submit to send the form electronically to the school.
The Student Demographic Verification Form is an Alberta Education requirement as proof of Registration for funding purposes and includes your child’s personal information as well as parent / legal guardian contact information. If forms remain incomplete, it may result in a reduction in funding the Calgary Board of Education.
The deadline is September 15, 2025

Volunteering
Please go to your MyCBE account and get your police clearance done. Once you are cleared this is good for five years. This is in addition to the Annual Volunteer Form that is required by the CBE every year. Your Police clearance will take on average 2 to 6 weeks to complete.
Choir (Grades 3-6)
Love to sing and be part of a team? We are delighted to invite students in grades 3-6 to join the Midnapore School Choir again this year! Our first meeting will be on Wednesday, September 17th at 11:30 in the music room. On Wednesdays, choir members will bring their lunch to the music room. The first 2 sessions will be a “try it out” opportunity for those interested or curious. After that, choir members will be expected to commit to weekly rehearsals unless they are absent from school.
