Dear Midnapore Families
It was another successful week at Midnapore School! Last evening, we hosted our kickoff to the school year Open House. Thank you to all the families who attended and helped make this a wonderful community event. It was a great opportunity to connect with others, share your child’s learning experiences, and set the stage for another fantastic school year.
Today, we celebrated and honored Terry Fox with a morning assembly prepared by Ms. Morin, followed by our annual Terry Fox Run. Thank you to all the families who contributed donations to the Terry Fox Foundation.

The Caregiver Series
The Calgary Board of Education invites all parents and guardians to join a live online series on supporting child and youth well-being. The series is hosted by the Recovery Alberta Community Education Service (CES) Program in collaboration with local experts from the Calgary community.
Attached to this email is a poster with sessions designed to provide families with knowledge, tools, and strategies to help navigate the challenges and opportunities of raising children and teens today. Along with the poster, additional session details are available on the Child and Youth Family and Caregiver Series.

Orange Shirt Day
On October 1, we will come together as a school community to recognize and honor Truth and Reconciliation Day.
As a symbol of unity and commitment, we invite all staff and students to wear an orange shirt and join us for a community walk. This collective action is a meaningful way for us to show our support and solidarity.
Our gathering will begin in the gym at 12:45 PM, where we will start with a land acknowledgement and O Canada. We aim to begin our walk promptly at 1:00 PM, following our usual community route through the loop and the path near our Fish Creek gathering space.
As this is a walking field trip, we are informing parents of our community walk and invite those with security clearance to volunteer. If you can support, please send an email to our Assistant Principal, Leah Clare at laclare@cbe.ab.ca
School Council Meeting
We are excited to host our next school council meeting on Monday, October 6. We are excited to welcome all parents of our learning community to our monthly meeting. This meeting will be a hybrid model where parents can attend online or in-person. The doors will open at 6pm with our meeting starting at 6:30pm

Our school needs your help! We have our casino fundraiser coming up and it’s only possible with your support.
There will be many different shifts available throughout the day and overnight. We are only able to collect funds if these positions are fulfilled. It can be anyone (no police clearance required) yourself, grandparents, relatives and friends.
These funds pay for valuable extras for our students, like field trip transportation, artist residences, musical instruments, and our soon-to-be brand-new sound system that we desperately need.

Is on your MyCBE account and we ask that you please fill this out so that we can keep your child’s information up to date at all times. Thank you.
Volunteering
Please go to your MyCBE account and get your police clearance done. Once you are cleared this is good for five years. This is in addition to the Annual Volunteer Form that is required by the CBE every year. Your Police clearance will take on average 2 to 6 weeks to complete.
