Update Sept 18-22 | Mid-Autumn Festival, Terry Fox Run, Parent Conferences, Deadline for Forms, etc
Dear Midnapore Families,
Our Mandarin program students and teachers are getting excited to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. The Mid-Autumn Festival is a special holiday celebrated by many people in Asia, and it is a bit like a big moon party! This festival usually happens in September or October when the moon is the fullest and brightest. This year, it is happening on September 29.
People celebrate by gathering with their families and friends to admire the beautiful full moon. They often light lanterns of different shapes and colors, and some even have lantern parades. It is a time to enjoy delicious mooncakes, which are round pastries with sweet fillings like lotus seed paste or red bean paste. This festival is all about being together, appreciating the moon's beauty, and sharing delicious treats with loved ones. Our Mandarin Program students will be engaging in special activities and crafts in the weeks leading up to it. On October 2, students from our community school programming will be invited to look at and admire the displays our Mandarin students have created for this special holiday!
Terry Fox Run:
We had an amazing day today celebrating our annual Terry Fox Run. Students in all grades participated in our morning assembly and ran during this important school-wide event. Our fundraising goal this year is $400, and we are well on our way to achieving this. We would like to send a special thank you to those parents who helped volunteer for this event and to our parent council for providing a healthy snack for our students. As a school we have set a goal to run across Canada to help raise awareness for the Terry Fox Foundation.
Our school is proud to play a significant role in supporting cancer research. Through our participation in the Terry Fox School Run, we hope to encourage leadership in our students and create positive agents of change in our wonderful school community. Students shared inspirational words today and shared them throughout the assembly. Fantastic job Midnapore School!
Parent Conferences
Our first round of Parent/Teacher Conferences will be September 21 from 3:30 PM- 7:00 PM and September 22 from 8 am- 12:30 PM. Please register for your 15-minute slot through our school conference manager site.

Our Grade 5/6 teams will be doing a similar model to most Middle schools to allow parents an opportunity to meet with each teacher. There will be no conference booking option available as it will be a fluid process where parents may meet with each teacher for 5 minutes in the learning commons.
Healthy Hunger
Our School Healthy Hunger account is now up and running. A special thanks to Melanie for setting up all our Healthy Hunger events for the year. If you want a fun lunch for your child, please get your order in by the Saturday of the week before. To order any of our Fun Lunches you need to set up an account online at https://healthyhunger.ca/.
