Dear Midnapore Families,
It was great to have so many families in our building over the last two days. Thank you to those who made appointments with their child’s teachers as we laid the foundational groundwork for this school year.
Our Mandarin program students and teachers have been working hard preparing for and celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival! A big thank you to our Grade 3 and 4 Mandarin Program students for coming up for morning announcements and teaching the whole school about the wonderful festivities associated with this festival. We are so lucky here at Midnapore school to get to celebrate and learn about so many different celebrations and cultures. Check out the photos below of some lanterns and artwork our students have created so far. We can’t wait to see the delicious Mooncakes they make next week- yum!
Healthy Hunger
We would like to remind you that our first Healthy Hunger event for our school is next Thursday as Subway will be coming to our school. If you would like to order lunch for your child, please register at www.healthyhunger.ca
The deadline to order is this Saturday at midnight. We rotate restaurants and have built a schedule to allow for a healthy hunger event every 2 weeks. Stay tuned for more information on our next hunger event. If you require assistance, then please do not hesitate to contact the School Council at midnapore.parentcouncil@gmail.com and we will be more than happy to assist you.
Truth and Reconciliation Week
The Government of Canada has proclaimed Friday, September 29 as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This federal national day directly responds to the Truth & Reconciliation Commissions Call to Action #80. The intention of the day is to recognize and honour residential school survivors, their families and communities. It will also ensure that public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and legacy of residential schools remains a vital component of the reconciliation process.
On Thursday, September 28 at 8:30 AM we will be hosting our School wide Orange shirt day/ Truth and Reconciliation Day Assembly. Students will be sharing their perspective on “How they will participate in Orange shirt day,” as well as what Reconciliation means to them.
Grade 6 Immunizations
Our school nurse would like to remind parents that they will be coming to the school Sept 25/23 to complete grade six, round one immunization. Vaccinations will also be in place for those who have their consent forms in from last year.
