Week Ahead Jan. 15-19 | Weather, School Council, Open House, Kindergarten, Mandarin Program,

Dear Midnapore Families,

Wow is it cold out there!!

Parents, we appreciate you dressing your child warmly during these times of the year. We are happy to help at the end of the day to make sure your child is dressed properly for their walk home. Please continue to dress your child properly for these extreme temperatures. If a child does not have appropriate clothing, we will lend them items from the office. If you are missing a glove or hat it is likely in our lost and found so, please drop by or have your child take a look throughout the school day.

School Council

We are excited to welcome back our amazing school council. We will be hosting our next meeting on Monday, January 29 at Midnapore School. We will once again be hosting a hybrid model where parents can attend virtually or in-person. Doors will open at 6PM and we will begin our meeting at 6:30pm. Our Grade 3 and 4 Teachers will be providing some updates around learning that is occurring within their classrooms. We are hopeful you’re able to attend. An online link will be shared closer to the date.

School council is planning a casino wrap up session at 5:45 before the school council meeting on January 29th in the Learning Commons. Please join us whether you volunteered or not. We would appreciate your feedback if you have a minute to complete the survey below, which will also help determine what kind of food everyone would like for the school council meeting. Thank you!

Open House

Thank you to those who made it to our Open house last evening. Although we were faced with extreme temperatures, we were very impressed with the number of families who attended this event. For those of you who were unable to attend you can view the videos created by students, parents and staff through the links below. Registration opens on Monday, January 15 through our MyCBE. https://www.cbe.ab.ca/registration/registration/Pages/new-students.aspx

Kindergarten is Coming to Town!

2024-2025 Kindergarten registration will open on January 15, 2024. Kindergarten students must be 5 years by December 31, 2024. At least one legal guardian must reside in Midnapore unless you are interested in our BIlingual Mandarin Program. All registration must be completed online via your MyCBE account for parents with children in the CBE and via SchoolEngage for new families to the CBE.

Mandarin Program Update

This week, the Mandarin Program Grade 3s have been exploring the topic of courage. The students practiced the “I see, I feel, I wonder” journaling technique to express what courage means to them. Bear represents courage in the Indigenous cultures. In connection, the Grade 3s have also created cute sketches of bears to add visual effects to their journal.

A reminder to our Grade 4 Mandarin program families that the Harold Panabaker Open House is on Thursday, January 18 (6:30-7:30pm). Please see the email sent out by Mr. Bennett for more information.
