Week Ahead Nov. 13-17 | Mandarin Program, Purdys Fundraiser, Conferences, Retakes, Fall Break

Dear Midnapore Families,

It was a wonderful day to be at Midnapore School. Students across many grades participated in our annual Remembrance Day assembly. We had a touching performance by Mrs. Hook’s class, who sang a Song of Peace. This musical performance, student poems, and other readings created a significant memory and sign of respect for those who served in our country. Thank you to the parents for their attendance and to Mrs. Plunz for her leadership on this day.

Please check us out on our instragram to see images from today’s assembly.

We acknowledge all families who have supported our Veterans' food bank drive. We know how challenging it is for all families right now and appreciate any donations you have been able to offer. We will be dropping off all food items to our Veterans at the end of the month.

Mandarin Program Update

This week, the Mandarin kindergarten students learned about poppies and peace. We talked about what peace is and why people wear poppies on Remembrance Day. We also made a class poppies wreath and presented it during the school assembly.

In Math we learned about subitizing. Students were paired up and practiced their subitizing skills with dice and counters.

在数学课上,我们学习了subitizing(数感练习)。

This week the Grade 3 and 4 students in the Mandarin program started to learn Tai Chi with Master Rocky.  Master Rocky is a guest teacher who volunteers his time and expertise to work with our students. We are very grateful to learn from you, Master Rocky! With each Tai Chi pose, we learn to slow down and be mindful of our movements and thoughts. Students also recite the “Three Character Classic” to demonstrate the wisdom and virtues (kindness, making good choices, perseverance) from this Chinese classic literature.
