Dear Midnapore Families,

It was a short but busy week here at Midnapore School. It did not take long for students to engage back into our regular routines and learning. We are only five weeks away from our next holiday and there are a lot of exciting events coming our way. Thank you to those families who continue to support our Veterans. We will be dropping off the donations on the last day of November.

Please continue to dress your child in appropriate clothing as our weather continues to shift daily. Although we have above seasonal temperatures, we expect the cold to move into our area quickly.

Thank you to everyone who has signed up to work at the school fundraising casino. We have 85% of the positions filled, but we still need just a few volunteers to ensure we can run this casino. Parent-Teacher Conferences – November 23 & 24, 2023

We will be holding In-Person and Online Conferences again this year. Parent-Teacher Conference(s) bookings will open on November 17 at 4:30pm and close on November 22, 2023, at 11:59pm. Teachers will have specific times blocked off on Friday, November 24 for online bookings. If you are requesting an online conference, please email your teacher specifically after you sign up through MyCBE.

Students in Grades 5/6 will meet with all their teachers for 5 minutes at a time (15 minutes total). Please sign up through MyCBE and the teachers will support you through those learning discussions. Please note, the online option is not available for grades 5/6 based on this format. If you would like the online option, please email your teacher privately so they can support you.

Mandarin Program Update

The Grade 3 and 4 students in the Mandarin program started learning Tai Chi with Master Rocky. Master Rocky is a guest teacher who volunteers his time and expertise to work with our students. We are very grateful to learn from you, Master Rocky! With each Tai Chi pose, we learn to slow down and be mindful of our movements and thoughts. Students also recite the “Three Character Classic” to demonstrate the wisdom and virtues (kindness, making good choices, perseverance) from this Chinese classic literature.

中英双语项目三/四年级的同学跟着严石教练学习杨氏太极。在练习太极招式的同时，同学们也学习在忙碌中慢下脚步，建立耐心。在比划招式的同时同学们还加入了三字经朗诵，从经典中学习传统美德。我们很高兴能跟严石教练学习，谢谢您！

The school would like to invite an art teacher to teach our students Chinese ink art/ calligraphy during Chinese New Year (mid-February). If you have any recommendations or require more information please let the school know. Thank you!

Paul Davis is coming to Midnapore School

We are happy to announce that Paul Davis is coming to support students and parents at Midnapore School. There will be a school day presentation for students in Grades 4-6 to focus on social media and online safety. Topics will include digital trails and privacy and online safety. We will also be supporting a parent educational evening at MidSun School, on November 30, 2023. This event is for all parents who have children in the digital age that are members of our school community. This event will take place at 6:30 pm and registration/tickets can be found on the Eventbrite link below.
