It was a short but busy week here at Midnapore School. Thank you to all those families who were able to make it here for our school conferences. The building was busy, and it was great to see so many families continue to build those partnerships with our school staff. We appreciate you!!

November/December Sacred Teaching Summary

We are in our final week for our Veterans food bank drive. Students are still bringing in food items to support this amazing cause. Thank you again to all who contributed already. We will announce our total number of items to donate early next week 😊

We are also excited to announce our next assembly, where we will introduce the teaching of Humility. Our Grade 5/6 teams have been working extremely hard over the past few weeks to introduce this teaching to our learning community. If you are free on November 30, at 9am, we would love to have you join us.

Paul Davis is coming to Midnapore

We are excited to welcome Paul Davis to Midnapore School for an In-person presentation on Friday, December 1. This presentation will be for only Grades 4, 5, and 6 students and will provide valuable tips to our students around online safety. This social networking safety presentation will assist students with the risks associated with our online world and will support them with strategies to deal with these risks. We are also excited to welcome Paul Davis to Midsun school where parents from Midnapore School can have the same level of social media security support. Please read below for more information.

Our expert, Paul Davis, will provide valuable tips and tricks to protect your children online. Mandarin Program Update

This week, Mandarin Grade 3 students had a field trip to the Telus Spark Science Centre. We attended the Lab Matters program, which relates to our science unit, Matter. During the lab experience, students had the opportunity to apply scientific methods to explore the states of matter. Engaging in hands-on activities, they observed changes in states of matter using dry ice, sodium alginate, rubbing alcohol, baking soda, and oobleck.

In the real-life lab setting, students transformed into chemists and materials scientists, exploring the properties of matter. They enjoyed conducting experiments and gained valuable skills in lab safety, research, and recording hypotheses and observations. The trip provided a wonderful educational experience.

A big thanks to the parent volunteers for their time and support. Without them, we couldn't have made it.

本周中英双语三年级同学到Telus Spark科学馆校外教学。由于科学课正在学习有关物质的状态和变化，所以我们到科学馆的实验室，透过实际操作各种不同的实验不仅让学生能做中学，还有机会运用科学方法来探索物质的状态。尤其值得一提的是，这次实验室活动中使用了几样昂贵的机器设备，这是一般学校很难有的，学生还有机会使用干冰、海藻酸钠、异丙醇、小苏打和oobleck等来实验观察物质状态如何变化。

这次的实验室活动让学生有机会成为小小科学家，他们不仅喜欢动手做实验，而且还学到实验室安全、研究的方法、提出假设以及实验观察等宝贵的知识和技能。
