Week Ahead Oct. 16-20 | Lost & Found, Fall Colours, Casino, Halloween, Fees, Illness
Dear Midnapore Families,
It was a short but busy week here at Midnapore School. Although the rain came, we were still able to have students outside for outdoor recess. We are quickly approaching winter, and the temperatures are shifting quickly. Please support your child by bringing appropriate clothing to school so we can support them outside.
Lost and Found
Attention all parents - Our lost and found items are growing at a very high rate and these items belong to someone. We will be placing these items outside for parents to look through on Monday morning (Front of the school) and Monday afternoon (Back of the school). The items not picked up by the end of next week will be forwarded along to donations. If you would like to come into the school to look through our Lost and Found, please check in with the office and our amazing office staff will support you with this.
This week grade 2 class integrated their Mandarin theme: Fall and colors into their math lesson. They did a survey on our favorite colors and learned to collect data using tally marks. They presented the data in a colorful bar graph. Finally, students presented their graph to the whole class.
School Council
Hello Midnapore Families,
It is time once again for Midnapore School to run a fundraising casino for 2023-2024. Each previous casino has raised approximately $70,000 for our school which has been used to purchase technology, curriculum enrichment events, Learning Commons furniture, and upgrading the playground.
The casino is held every two years and is only possible with the help of parents, caregivers, relatives, and friends who generously donate their time. Each volunteer will receive a complimentary meal and non-alcoholic drinks. Transportation and babysitting costs can also be reimbursed.
If we do not fill these shifts, we will lose the opportunity with the AGLC to do this fundraising in future years. This year the casino coordinators for the school are Lindsay Charlton and Monica Lee. Please see the details and sign-up link below. Thanks in advance for helping with our school fundraising!
Casino Details
Dates: Dec 11 and 12
Location: Ace Airport Casino, 40 Aero Crescent NE Calgary
Volunteer shifts: 11:00 am to 7:30pm, 7:00 pm to 3:30 am, and 11:00 pm to 4:00 am. Anyone over 18 can volunteer.

Halloween
Students are invited to wear a costume at school on October 31. Costumes should be child friendly. Please do not send any prop weapons, food items, or treat bags to school. October 31st will be a regular learning day for students.
We are also encouraging families to participate in our Midnapore School Pumpkin carving festival. Students are asked to carve a pumpkin with their families and bring the pumpkins to school for the day. Students will bring the pumpkin home after school that day as well. We will put all the pumpkins on display and allow students a chance to showcase their pumpkins to the school.
Halloween Dance – October 31 1:00-2:30
We are excited to announce that we will be having a Halloween School dance on October 31. We will invite Division 1 (K, 1, 2, 3) students to attend the dance from 1-1:45 and Division 2 (Grades 4, 5, 6) students to attend from 1:45-2:30 PM. Our Halloween Dance will be in support of fundraising for our Grade 6 classrooms who are raising money for Outdoor School. Donations ($2) will be accepted to attend the dance but are not mandatory as all students are invited. We will also have some healthy option concessions available for students to purchase if they choose.
Student Fees
Please regularly check your MyCBE account for fees, field trips are being allocated daily. Lunch Supervision fee will be allocated to students accounts on/after October 16, 2023.
IMPORTANT - Unpaid Fees - Collections
Unpaid fees affect the school's revenue therefore, it is very important that all fees are paid on time. Outstanding fees for previous school years will be sent to collections in February 2024. To avoid this, please sign into your MyCBE account or visit the school with either a debit or credit card.
Student Illness
Just a friendly reminder, if your child is sick, please keep them at home until they are well enough to return to school.
