Week Ahead Oct. 30 - Nov. 3 | Learning Assembly, Halloween, Halloween Dance, Casino
Dear Midnapore Families,
Thank you to all our families for helping your child(ren) dress warmly for the first wintry weather week of the season. If you need winter clothing for your child(ren) this season, please contact Mr. Bennett as the school has a small collection of gently used winter clothing and might help. We will keep many items in the office for emergencies but will be donating all the other items in the lost and found to a good cause. If you are missing anything at all, please come to the office and we will let you sort through these items. We will donate these items to a worthy cause on November 9.
Learning Assembly
It was a wonderful day here at Midnapore School as students participated in our first of our seven Sacred teachings. Students learned about respect and how we can respect each other, ourselves and the land. As a school, we commit to bringing in canned or boxed food items to support our Veterans Food drive. The class that is able to donate the most food items will have one special student work in the office for the day. Students are excited for this opportunity and the purpose of supporting our local veterans.
We have another busy week ahead of us with the learning celebration activities around Halloween. Please read the activity descriptions below. Thank you to those parents who stepped up to volunteer and to those who continue to go out of their way to support our students at Midnapore School.
Halloween
Students are invited to wear a costume at school on October 31. Costumes should be child friendly. Please do not send any prop weapons, food items, or treat bags to school. October 31 will be a regular learning day for students.
We are also encouraging families to participate in our Midnapore School Pumpkin carving festival. Students are asked to carve a pumpkin with their families and bring the pumpkins to school for the day. Students will bring the pumpkin home after school that day as well. We will put all the pumpkins on display and allow students a chance to display their pumpkins to the school.
Halloween Dance – October 31, 2023
We are excited to announce that we will be having a Halloween School dance on October 31. We will invite Division 1 (K, 1, 2, 3) students to attend the dance in the morning (10:30-11:15 am) and Division 2 (Grades 4, 5, 6) students to attend in the afternoon (1-2:15 pm). Our Halloween Dance will support fundraising for our Grade 6 classrooms who are raising money for Outdoor School. Donations ($2) will be accepted to attend the dance but are not mandatory as all students are invited.
Additionally, we have added a fun Healthy Hunger option (Kernels Popcorn) for students to purchase a fun snack on this exciting day. We are no longer able to purchase popcorn as the deadline has now passed. Students will receive their popcorn treat on October 31 when it works for their classroom. We will also have some fun glow sticks and healthy option concessions available for students to purchase if they choose. All proceeds will go to supporting our Grade 6 team.
As always, we welcome volunteers to our building for this fun and exciting day. If you have your police check completed and have done your annual volunteer form, we would love to have you support this event.
