Mandarin Team Update
This week, our Grade 2 students wrapped up their pumpkin exploration unit! Students closely observed different pumpkins, including those harvested from the community garden, and created detailed sketches.
Using their five senses, students explored the inside of a pumpkin and applied skip-counting to count the seeds. They learned vocabulary related to the parts of a pumpkin and its life cycle, and engaged in rich conversations about what pumpkins need to grow and thrive.
We connected math, science, and language learning while having fun with these hands-on explorations!

Halloween Events and Activities
Midnapore School is looking forward to another exciting Halloween celebration filled with creativity, community spirit, and a focus on student well-being and learning!
Great Pumpkin Event – Thursday, October 29
We are pleased to continue our Great Pumpkin Event, inviting families to carve a pumpkin together and share their creations with our school community.
On Thursday, October 29, students are welcome to bring their pumpkins to school, where they will be displayed for everyone to enjoy. We will also recognize some of the wonderful creations with awards in categories such as Most Creative, Scariest, Funniest, and more!
We look forward to seeing the creativity and imagination of our Midnapore families on display.
Halloween Costumes – Friday, October 30
Students are invited to wear their Halloween costumes to school on Friday, October 30.
Please ensure that costumes are safe, school-appropriate, and welcoming for all students. Remember:
- No candy is to be brought to school.
- Weapons and weapon-like accessories are not permitted.
- Costumes should be appropriate for a school community that includes children as young as five years old.
Our goal is to create a fun and inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable and can enjoy the celebration.
Halloween Dance – Friday, October 30
Students will also have the opportunity to participate in a Halloween Dance on October 30!
To ensure an enjoyable experience for everyone, we will host three separate dances organized by grade level. Students will have the chance to celebrate with their peers, enjoy music, and share in the excitement of the day.
Food Donations for Canadian Veterans
As we look ahead to our learning and activities throughout November, we will be collecting food donations in support of Canadian veterans.
This is a meaningful opportunity for our students to demonstrate kindness, gratitude, and community responsibility while recognizing the contributions and sacrifices of those who have served our country.
Thank you for your continued support in making Midnapore School a welcoming, caring, and engaging place for all students. We look forward to celebrating Halloween together and creating another memorable experience for our school community!
Parking in the Staff Parking Lot
For everyone's safety, we ask that parents not use the staff parking lot for drop-off or pick-up. This area is unsafe for this purpose because students are walking through the lot.
Thank you for helping us keep our students safe.
