Weekly Update Sept 11-15 | Welcome, Annual Forms, Lunch Supervision, Emergency Contacts, Terry Fox, Volunteering, Dates, etc

Dear Midnapore Families,

After six days of classes, our students are already used to their routines and expectations inside and outside the school. The air quality took away our outside time to start the week but fortunately, it was just for one day. The dry weather is allowing students and parents to ride bikes, scooters, and skateboards to school, which is something that we always love to see. Please remember to be safe by wearing a helmet and always lock up your bikes. We have had several bikes come to school without a lock this past week and we do not want to see any go missing.

It was a great second week here at Midnapore School. Students and staff took part in a welcome back assembly where students were able to hear about all our amazing staff here at Midnapore School. Additionally, we were able to welcome back all returning and new students to our school. It was great to have everyone together for a brief but exciting assembly.

Terry Fox Run

Our School Terry Fox run will take place next Friday, September 15th at 10:00 am. If students can, we are asking them to bring “Tonnies for Terry.” As a school we are hoping to meet our goal of $400. Also, we have been challenged by the Terry Fox foundation to run across Canada. Students will be tracking their total Kilometers during fitness Friday’s and next Friday to see if we can meet our goal together. Midnapore, we got this!!!

School Council

Our first council meeting is September 11th here at Midnapore School.  Our meetings will be a hybrid model where parents can attend in-person or online.  Doors will open at 6 and the meeting will start at 6:30 sharp.  Our first meeting will be our AGM meeting where we assign roles for the year.  Being a part of the council is an amazing opportunity as you can be a key contributor towards the direction of the school year.  If you will be joining us through Microsoft Teams, please use the link below.

New Volunteer Process & Costs:

If you wish to become a volunteer, you will now be responsible for the cost of ePIC registration. The cost is $21.25 per person.

On a receipt of a completed annual volunteer form, and two forms of government ID (one being a picture ID) the school will send you a letter and a link to apply for your ePIC. You have 180 days to complete the ePIC process.

Once your ePIC has been processed by the CPS they will send you a letter confirming the outcome of the registration.

You MUST bring a copy of this letter to the school.

Volunteers who have lived outside of Calgary MUST obtain a PIC including Vulnerable Sector Check from RCMP or police agency in the district where you lived, this must be submitted to us at the school.

We always need volunteers here at the school. Over the year, there will be field trip requests from teachers, jobs around the school or other opportunities related to student learning.
